We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to provide administrative and legal support to an attorney in a fast-paced office environment. This role is ideal for a professional with strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
Compensation & Schedule:
- Pay:$18.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
- Schedule: 8:30 AM–5:00 PM with a one-hour unpaid lunch
- Provide legal and administrative support to the attorney.
- Answer and screen telephone calls and greet visitors professionally.
- Respond to inquiries regarding case status, court procedures, and office matters.
- Schedule meetings, hearings, conferences, and court appearances.
- Prepare, proofread, and edit legal documents, correspondence, reports, and other materials.
- Maintain court calendars, docket cases, and prepare and distribute notices of hearings.
- Electronically file legal documents with courts and administrative agencies.
- Compose routine correspondence and memoranda.
- Enter and maintain client information and case records in the firm's database.
- Track and record billable time accurately.
- Assist with file management, including archived and closed files.
- Maintain office supplies and assist with general office operations.
- Pick up and deliver mail and other materials as needed.
- Collaborate with other office staff and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Previous administrative support experience in a legal or related professional office preferred.
- Knowledge of general office procedures, equipment, and software.
- Familiarity with court rules, legal procedures, and electronic filing is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent proofreading, grammar, spelling, and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with legal billing software is a plus, but not required.
